Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social responsibility
At last year's AGM, Paul Atkinson and Nicola Saunders announced our intention to form a network of counsellors and psychotherapists interested in or already working to provide free therapy for people on low incomes.
A group of us have now been meeting for several months and have launched the FPN website - www.freepsychotherapynetwork.com. We are inviting PCSR members who agree with the site's stated aims and are already involved in free or low cost work to join us by writing a short description of themselves, their politics and their work.
From our website statement: "We are a group of psychotherapists offering free and low-fee psychotherapy to people on low incomes. We are currently developing our own ways of doing no-fee work and we are supporting each other in the experience. We would like other qualified psychotherapists and counsellors to join us in building a network.
We envisage a loose, mutually supportive, network of practitioners offering their time, experience and energy to their local communities in whatever settings work for them. This might be through individual or group sessions, through facilitating peer-support groups or by working with existing community groups."
